About us
Pori Energia Group produces energy and energy services with the expertise of approximately 200 skilled professionals. The Group is responsible for electricity distribution for more than 50,000 network users, and over 50 percent of the residents of Pori live in homes heated by district heating produced by Pori Energia.
The company’s production is mainly based on combined heat and power generation (CHP), and currently more than 90 percent of our production is carbon dioxide free. In 2025, the turnover of the Pori Energia Group was €137.2 million.

history
The roots of Pori Energia date back to 1897, when Otto Wilhelm Backman signed an agreement with the City of Pori on street lighting. The first electric lights were switched on on 15 August 1898, and from that August moment, it all began.
